The Eureka Springs annual Antique Auto Festival was held Friday and Saturday, September 7th and 8th, 2012. I hope you got to enjoy seeing the hundreds of antique and restored automobiles from all eras and manufacturers. This show is open to all makes and models of automobiles. Trophies were awarded for Best of Show, Best Paint and Best Engine in both the Original and Modified categories. Registration and judging will be 8:00 to 10:00 am at the Pine Mountain Village.

RECIPE

Tropical Pineapple Coconut Bars

Base
1 package Yellow cake mix
1 ½ cups quick-cooking rolled oats
½ cup butter, softened
1 egg

Filling
½ cup all purpose flour
1 (14oz) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
1 (8oz) can crushed pineapple, well drained, reserving liquid
½ teaspoon nutmeg

Topping
1 cup chopped macadamia nuts
1 cup coconut
1 cup vanilla milk chocolate chips

Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
4 to 6 teaspoons pineapple liquid

Heat oven to 350.
Lightly grease 13x9 inch pan.
Combine all base ingredients at low speed until crumbly.
Reserve 1 ½ cups of the crumb mixture.
Press remaining crumb mixture in bottom of greased pan.
Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.
In medium bowl, combine all filling ingredients; blend well.
Pour into crust-lined pan.
Add all topping ingredients to reserved crumb mixture; mix well.
Sprinkle evenly over filling.
Bake at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool completely.

In small bowl, combine powdered sugar and enough reserved pineapple liquid for desired drizzling consistency; blend until smooth.
Drizzle over bars.
Store in cool place (refrigeration not necessary).
Makes 16 bars.

42nd Annual Eureka Springs Antique Automobile Festival. Hundreds of vintage classics compete for prizes and trophies. Includes show with parade. For more information call 800-6EUREKA.

September 8
The 1922 Bank Robbery Re-enactment after the antique car parade; the first time an automobile was used as getaway vehicle in a bank robbery.

September 8-9
Wood Carvers Jamboree. Show hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm at Pine Mountain Village. Demonstrations of woodworking craft, items for sale, and people’s choice voting for best of show. For more info call Bill at 918-251-8734.

September 8
2nd Saturday Gallery Stroll. The City’s art galleries are joining forces to stage a monthly “Celebration of the Art of Eureka” 6pm to 8pm.

September 12-15
Scooting the Ozarks. Self-guided, guided rides and Poker Run rides. This event is open to all Scooter riders, From Mopeds to Maxi's and two strokes to four strokes. We welcome owners of all type scooters from A-Z.

September 13
Poetluck is a potluck dinner and literary salon held the third Thursday of every month, March-October at The Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow in Eureka Springs.

Sept 20-23
Jazz Eureka. Jazz fans, dig this: Hot, cool FREE jazz in Basin Spring Park. Local and regional jazz artists swing it in the park all weekend.

September 21-23
7th Annual ADVENTURE INTO ART Eureka Springs Artists Studio Tour. Artists Studios open to the public. This is a free self-guided tour.
