Are you ready for winter? Fall is rushing by and it will be here in no time. We are looking forward to all the wonderful food that comes with this time of year - dressing, pies, candy, cookies and more. It's a great time to visit Eureka Springs. The crowds have lessened and the crisp, cool weather is perfect for cuddling by the fireplace.

The 62nd Ozark Folk Festival is this weekend. Come see the parade and hear some wonderful talent and browse the craft show at the Courthouse. The 21st Antique Show and Sale will be November 21 and 22. Who knows? You may find that special piece that you've been looking for.

Fall is Here!

Fall is here! The crisp, cool weather is so refreshing. We get lots of questions about fall foliage and generally the leaves in our part of the Ozarks reach peak color around the latter part of October/first week of November. Corvette Weekend in Eureka Springs

My regular monthly newsletter may be late this month because of Corvette Weekend in Eureka Springs, Ar. Its a really big event for this area and brings cars in from long distances. Our Eureka Springs bed and breakfast is completely booked this weekend. Our guests really like being able to park their Corvettes right outside their door on pavement. Many other b&b's in town only offer gravel or you have to park far away, so the pavement and being able to keep an eye on your car is really appreciated. Hoses and buckets are provided to keep the cars clean too. What more could you want with breakfast delivered to your room? How about a freshly cleaned room and home-made desserts waiting for you when you come back from the day's activities!

Clark and Donna Renew Vows

August 30 was our wedding anniversary and Donna and I decided to renew our vows. We really wanted something stress-free and enjoyable. Our last-minute decision was on Friday and thought we would like to do the ceremony in Victorian clothing, so we rented our duds locally and called the Minister. After our guests left on Sunday, we dressed and had our ceremony late that afternoon. Our ceremony was intimate and we even said a few words of our own. We posed for a few pictures, took a lovely horse-drawn carriage ride and ate dinner downtown. (A special treat for us!) You have to understand, our original wedding was everything except stress-free, so we really enjoyed being able to concentrate on each other, rather than the wedding details.

Summer's Winding Down - Don't Wait

It won't be long until the kids start back to school. Don't wait until it's too late to take that much-needed romantic getaway! Donna and I plan attend a family get-together in Texas and take a little break before the fall season is upon us. I can't believe it's already July...the height of the summer! Shoot off your own fireworks at Turpentine Creek or just watch their fireworks show. Fat Tire festival is also this month. The famous Eureka Springs Bluegrass Festival is coming in August. Now there's FREE afternoon music all week in Basin Park, courtesy of the downtown merchants and the CAPC. Don't miss it.

June Is A Great Time To Visit Eureka Springs

Ahhh! The weather is beautiful. It's a great time of year to visit Eureka Springs. Enjoy the outdoors sightseeing or taking in some of the many activities in our wonderful Extraordinary Escape. Spring is Finally Here!

Finally, Spring is here! Trees and plants are blooming and we've been getting rain for the last week so everything is really greening up again. May is a busy month with lots of things going on. The entire month of May is Art Month so don't miss all the fun activities and free music in the park.

May weekends are really filling up, so call early. We still have a couple openings for Memorial Day Weekend and Blues Festival Weekend. Getting into the Swing of Spring

Spring is coming and we can't wait! Mother nature has been teasing us with some 70 degree days, but then dropping the temperature down again in the 30's. We even had sleet and snow last weekend but the temp went back into the 50's and it melted quickly. We are patiently waiting for the "real" spring to come so we won't lose new plants.

The Music Shows are now back in full swing. We saw the Pine Mountain Jamboree show last week and we were really pleased with the changes they have made. It's not the same show as last year. The Bishops are even opening an ice cream parlor in Pine Mountain Village after the show for that late-night sweet tooth. We'll try to get time to see the Hoe-Down show soon so we can answer your questions. Some of our packages include show tickets and we'll be glad to make reservations for you.

Digging Out From The Ice Storm

The ice storm cleanup is really progressing. Some guests have noticed that Eureka cleaned up really fast and doesn't appear to have suffered as much damage as surrounding areas. It's just that everyone pitched in and worked really hard. We are your Relaxing Getway Hosts, after all and want to make your stay with us a pleasant one.

Spring Break is coming and we want to invite you for a spring getaway with us. We even have some special gifts for the Teachers in our March Spring Break Package. It's been a long winter and we are looking forward to the Hoe-Down and the Jamboree Music Shows to reopen this month. Great Time For Romance

Sorry my posting is late. February really came in with a bang! Of course by now you've heard about the great ice storm of '09 that hit our area. It started raining the last Monday of January and it rained until Wednesday in below freezing temperatures. Ice coated everything it touched. Eventually, the weight brought down trees, tree limbs and power lines. We were fortunate to lose power for only three days, much less than many others. It may be as long as two more weeks until everyone is back on. We survived with no major damage other than losing trees and limbs. I'll get plenty of exercise cleaning them up.

Restaurants and shops are gearing up for Valentine's. Our Valentine's weekend is filled, but why not try celebrating on a weekday or maybe a different weekend? Things in town will be less crowded and hectic. A warm fireplace makes for a cozy, romantic stay during this colder weather. We'll deliver a hot breakfast right to your door so you can enjoy time with each other without getting out in the cold.
